Oil Paint

Painted in 2020

NFS

This is my second hyper-realistic oil painting, and my first oil painting of a human subject.
My grandmother and I have always been close. When I was little, she told me that you could see how close someone was to dying my pinching the skin on the back of their hand and seeing if it stays bunched up or if it falls back into place. Since that day, I had always paid attention to her hands, making sure that she had a lot of time left. I decided a while ago that I wanted to paint them, but was waiting until I was comfortable with oil.
With this painting, I learned that finishing an oil piece is just taking a billion baby steps. I also learned how important red tones are to skin to show the glow of life.
