Along with art, botany is one of my great passions. My senior year, I began an independent study that focuses on native Louisiana plants and plants that are prominent in Louisiana folklore and medicinal recipes. I am currently working on a book that will contain cultural information about the state and around 100 different plant introductions, active chemicals, and their cultural and medicinal uses. I wanted to make this an interdisciplinary project, so I will be illustrating most of the fruiting plants. So far, I have used oil, colored pencil, and watercolor.
